I'm an author....I have written a book....I'm not a writer. I had one story to tell and it needed telling. The telling and the writing was hard, but the reading is much easier.

Someone once said, "The mind with dementia is like a room full of lights. One by one the lights blow out. Each burned out light can never be re-lit and when the room is dark. . . you die."

This is the story about a daughter and her mother. The mother diagnosed with accelerated dementia. They knew she was going to die. The daughter wished to make her mother's last years worth living. What would you do?

Does this story make you cry? Of course. Will you laugh? Yes. Are there lessons to be learned from within these pages? Absolutely! The book is not written as a textbook, but I've been told by professionals that it should be required reading in medical schools.

That's the book and it sold well. Because of the emails I received, I wanted my story to continue helping people struggling with their own caregiving situation and even those who may have been recently diagnosed. Both struggling, as I had, with the "unknowns." This idea led me to create my website http://www.dementias-daughter.com. Here you can read the book, as many are everyday.

I hope you will come to the Writer's Luncheon to laugh with me as I describe my unique and sometimes outrageous methods of making Mom and I happy as we journeyed on the course set by her disease.

Come to celebrate, as I expect the website to reach 30,000 hits by December, and I plan to make this Writer's Luncheon a party.
